INSA Makes Girls On Bikes Look Hot!

INSA Girls On Bikes

I’ve seen these pictures floating around the internets and always wondered who took them. Now that I finally found out and saw the whole set I’m effing elated. Come on now, hot girls on bikes?! You can’t go wrong.

During his successful exhibition in Hong Kong, INSA unveiled the completed set of his ongoing public installation project, Girls On Bikes. Now the rest of the world will get to see the 12 individual photos that work together as a unified piece. The seemingly random images seeks a deeper meaning on how we perceive ownership of public space, represented by his mural, of sexuality, represented by overtly sexualized female presence and of belongings, represented by the bicycles. Majority of the photographs were taken in London, however there are some exceptions with San Fransisco, Ghent, Los Angeles and Hong Kong mixing things up.

Video: The Minimalist Bicycle

Salute to designer Joey Ruiter at Inner City Bikes for this idea.

It is a sci-fi cycle with the essentials only: an aluminum frame, freewheel rear hub, 36-inch tires, disc brakes, custom-fit cranks, and a seat. Not even a chain or drive train.

Audi’s Hardwood Bike

Audi-Renovo hardwood bike 01.04.2011

Seems like more car manufacturers are building bikes. Are they cornering the urban market? Maybe. But a bike that runs $6,530 isn’t cornering anybody.

The Duo is made of a monocoque hardwood frame that is stiff, durable and able to absorb shocks and vibrations while weighing about one-fourth of what an equivalent aluminum frame would.

Audi will offer the Duo in three variants too.

The Duo City is an 8-speeder for urban dwellers and comes with an upright rider position for short distances and 32 mm tires. Price is $6,530.

The Duo Sport is an 11-speed long distance rider with 28 mm tires for less roll resistance and is priced at $7,350.

The Duo Road has is a performance road-going bike with thin tires and 20 speeds and a price tag of $7,460.

The Bicycle City (Trailer)

What happens to an impoverished developing nation town when you flood it with 20,000 bicycles? You lift three times that number of people out of poverty. Pedals for Progress and founder David Schweidenback have been shipping used American bicycles to Rivas, Nicaragua for the last two decades and the transformation has been incredible.
